Protein Deficiency is a condition that’s impossible to happen. It will only be seen if you are chronically starved. If you are eating 2 full course meals with variety in meals you do not have to worry about your protein intake. To incorporate enough protein in your diet, the mantra is greens and beans. Greens are around 49-51% protein hence if consumed in raw form as smoothies you will get sufficient protein and other nutrients on an empty stomach. Other good plant-based sources of protein are beans, lentils, seeds like chia, nuts like almonds, tofu and quinoa.

For healthy hair growth nutrients like protein, zinc, omega 3 fatty acids and iron are required in optimal amounts. All these nutrients are present in plant-based foods like raw greens, wheat grass, curry leaves, nuts like walnuts, seeds like flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, dates etc. In addition to this, it’s necessary to get your Vit D and B12 levels checked as these 2 nutrients also affect hair growth and health. If deficient, supplementation is advised under physician’s supervision and an 8-hour restful sleep can do wonders to prevent hair loss!!

Humans in general are lactose intolerant as the enzyme (lactase) required to digest lactose, a sugar found in cows milk ceases to function after human infants wean from breast milk. But certain adult humans are able to digest milk as the enzyme required to digest milk persists in their body.

Dairy milk characteristically is addictive in nature hence difficult but not impossible to give up. Vegan substitutes of all dairy products are simpler to make and now readily available in the market too Plant based milks like soy milk and coconut milk can be readily used to substitute dairy milk if on a budget as they are rich in protein (soy) and good quality fat (coconut) without the side effects of consuming cholesterol present in dairy milk.
