44 percent people who love animals, end up transitioning to Veganism, says Veganuary survey

Veganuary, a global non-profit organisation that encourages individuals to try being vegan for one month and beyond announced on Monday that during its 2022 campaign, they had motivated more than 6,20,000 people to do so. Those who are intrigued by Veganuary 2023 should know that the purpose of Veganuary is to promote compassionate eating worldwide. In order to put a stop to animal agriculture, safeguard the environment, and enhance human health, it aims to influence business behaviour and push corporate change.


And in exciting news, a survey found that 44 percent people who feel compassion for animals end up turning vegan. The write-up offers you a closer look at Veganuary and the findings of their survey.

 

How Veganuary assists people in upholding their resolve

According to the Veganuary Official Survey 2022, 6,29,351 people from more than 220 nations signed up to participate in Veganuary 2022, including over 65,000 participants from India. These participants received 31 days of support emails, social media encouragement, and other helpful resources to keep up their resolve. Prashant Vishwanath reported that the survey found that 44% of respondents signed up for the cause because they had compassion for animals, 21% did so for health reasons, and 19% did so because they were concerned about the environment.

A campaign for lasting change

But the most intriguing findings were that "More than half of the participants have managed to stick to a vegan diet. Moreover, a huge 49 per cent of participants saw significant improvements in their energy levels, 48 per cent experienced mood enhancements, 39 per cent saw their skin change to better and a good 37 per cent saw changes in body weight," said the survey. Further sharing his thoughts on the survey Vishwanath said, "Motivated by their positive experience, 74 per cent of participants expressed their willingness to reduce their consumption of animal products by at least half and 76 per cent were very likely to try a vegan diet in the future. Besides, a whopping 98 per cent of participants would recommend Veganuary to a friend or a family member."

 

What the future holds for Veganuary

Over two million people have taken part in Veganuary since its beginning in 2014! Veganuary is growing in India thanks to its catchy desi content, celebrity backers, corporate partnerships, and more. By 2027, Veganuary hopes to reach 10 more nations on a worldwide scale and welcome 10 million more participants.
