Blue Ridge Animal Trust: Free First Aid For Injured Strays In Bengaluru

If you are an animal lover in Bengaluru, you’ll be happy to note that there’s a clinic that provides first aid and other services free of cost to strays – Blue Ridge Animal Trust.

Founded by two vets, Dr. Michel G Morton and Dr. Swati Hareendran, they decided to open the clinic on Hennur Road when they saw an increasing number of strays (dogs and cats) being brought in from the streets by animal lovers.

Says Dr. Morton, “In a month, we used to get seven to eight street dogs. People who are bringing them to us may not be able to take care of them. Most of the NGOs are always occupied with a lot of animals. If we get strays, we can’t just send them away, right? We have to do something.”

Apart from first aid, the clinic also offers aftercare (for seriously injured animals) and rehabilitation. The clinic is governed by a tryst and their long term goal is to create a shelter for the treatment and rehabilitation of injured and diseased animals. They also want to conduct camps for primary animal healthcare, vaccination and deworming. “I am planning to tie up with other NGOs. Regarding financial support, if you do good work, people will definitely come forward to help you. That’s happening in our case. Whatever financial support we get will be fully invested on the treatment,” says Dr. Morton.
