Every aspect of our existence is being taken over by veganism. Human eating habits were the beginning, and they gradually influenced many other facets of our daily lives. Vegan products are widely available, from bags to clothing and cosmetics. In heartening news, the first line of goods made of apple skin leather has been introduced in India by Sarjaa, a homegrown, premium plant and fruit leather handbag company, in support of this urgently needed effort to protect the environment and end cruelty to animals.

All about the exciting launch in Hyderabad

These vegan handbags for women made their debut at a swanky launch party in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, which drew aficionados and eco-friendly individuals from all across India. Vegetables, plants, and fruits like pineapple have all been used in the production of leather. however, it is the first occasion that apple skin is used as a sustainable substitute for leather.

An insight into the founder Anjana Arjun

Anjana Arjun, an 26-year-old enthusiast of sustainable fashion, art, and the environment, founded the South-based e-commerce brand Sarjaa. The daughter of South mega star Arjun Sarja, this young green businesswoman is an entrepreneur. The meaning of the name Sarjaa is complex. Their family tree was interwoven by the fact that Anjana's grandfather shared the same name. It represents infinity and bestows a long and fulfilling life. It all just so happens to fit with Anjana's philosophy. Anjana posted this indication on her social media before the launch.

The inception of the blossoming brand

This brand was established as a result of identifying a demand for high-end, luxurious handbags made using ethically sourced materials. In line with Anjana's idea of selecting a long-term sustainable lifestyle, it is appropriate. Anjana explained the creation of these bags while saying that the basic material, i.e., the vegan leather, is purchased from abroad. After preparing apple juice, the apple extract is discarded. These extracts are used to create the leather, alongside a few other manufacturing steps.

Similar techniques are also employed using pineapple skin or peel. The result is durable vegan leather that is free from animal testing. She created and styled each and every bag. Therefore, using a vegan leather bag is now possible without having to worry about harming the environment or the animal kingdom.

Variety in their product line

Even if you’re set on being vegan, there is no sacrifice made in terms of style. The styles are suitable for ladies of all ages and are classic, elegant, sophisticated, and urbane. They are useful and practical. These goods have a lifespan of almost 10 years, the manufacturer claims. Each is a work of art in and of itself, exuding luxury and elegance while vouching for environmental responsibility. There are presently six different vegan bag types available from Sarjaa. These include Punya, Kala, Kenti, Sebu, Puncheen, and Dua (tote bag).

Proenza Schoule and Elie Tahari are two well-known fashion labels with which Anjana has previously worked. The company made its start with a selection of fashionable and useful purses; eventually, it will expand into other markets. The brand's website, sarjaa.in, sells these bags.

Specifics of these ethically-sourced bags

The name Sebu, which translates to "apple" in Kannada, is justified by the fact that it is made of apple skin leather, has an organic cotton inside, and zips that are made of metal that is 70% post-consumer recycled. These are expertly handmade utilising fruit leathers including cactus, pineapple, and apple skin (the first of its kind in India). The interior lining has ethically-sourced silks and cotton. The zipper and handle's metal fittings are made of recyclable aluminium.

Similar entrants in the market for vegan bags

Entrepreneur Ashwath Hegde, a native of Mangalore who now resides in Qatar, previously introduced EnviGreen, carrier bags that resemble plastic pouches. He had created this non-harmful alternative to plastic bags that animals may munch on without being wounded. They are made from natural starch and oil derivatives, among other things.
