McDonalds Introduces Vegan McAloo Tikki Burger in Chicago

Better late than never! McDonald's introduces India’s much loved McAloo Tikki Burger in Chicago as a vegan-friendly alternative.

In a usual McDonald's McAloo Tikki Burger, one can expect a filling of a veggie patty made from potatoes, peas and samosa seasoning topped with slices of tomatoes and red onion between two toasted buns. There is, however, an eggless but non-vegan tomato mayonnaise included as a condiment.

So, the burger is vegan only without the tomato mayonnaise. While we’re glad that McDonald's has finally taken a step to cater to the growing population of vegans in Chicago, we truly hope that they step up their game and prototype some innovative mock-meat burgers that are entirely vegan (yes, including the condiment ‘cuz since when is vegan mayo difficult to find in the United States?!)

While McDonald's may just be testing the waters with their debut of the Vegan burger in Finland in 2017 and now in Chicago, there are plenty of vegan joints across the U.S that are doing great for themselves and the community at large. And as far as we all know, more vegan businesses are entering the market year on year and the lifestyle is here to stay.
