Recently a number of Wendy’s location in the United States had run out of beef as some are only left with fresh meat. This shortage is predominantly due to lack of workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic, as meat processing units as quite risky to work at. Although last week President Trump signed an executive order aimed at protecting slaughterhouses from liability issues to get them to stay open, the industry is limping due to plant closures and production losses.

Figures released by the Centers for Disease Control last Friday said 5,000 meat processing plant workers had tested positive for COVID-19 up until April 27, with hundreds more since diagnosed with the same condition.  In a statement by Dr. Gauden Galea, representative of the World Health Organisation,  China, “As long as people eat meat there is going to be some risk of infection.” Florida Senator Mark Rubio smirked,  that people may “we have to go a little vegan” since most of the operations were suspended in the country.
