Paul McCartney Encourages 4.1 Million Followers To Watch Seaspiracy

78-year-old Beatles legend Paul McCartney recently called on his 4.1 million Twitter followers to watch the Netflix documentary Seaspiracy. Directed by Ali and Lucy Tabrizi, the documentary has garnered international attention, including that of celebrities and influential personalities such as Bryan Adams and Kourtney Kardashian. Indian actors such as Kajal Aggarwal have also responded to the film.

McCartney shared a link to Seaspiracy’s website which provides more information on the subject, and wrote: 

“Have you seen the incredible Netflix program Seaspiracy? It is a very strong documentary on fishing that everyone should watch.”

The documentary conducts investigations of the fishing industry in various countries, covering the harm industrial fishing causes to the environment in terms of carbon emissions, plastic pollution, destruction of ecosystems, and even human rights violations. Its directors have also started a petition for world leaders to better safeguard the oceans.

Celebrity voices are significant in bringing attention towards such impactful documentaries and spreading awareness about the issue. Although not a vegan, McCartney has been vocal about animal rights and vegetarianism in the past. He even began the Meatless Monday trend in the U.K. His daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney also does not use animal-derived materials in her brand, and also launched the first-ever vegan mushroom leather clothing this year.
