There is no denying the fact that it was only a few years back that people mocked the concept of plant-based food. The notion that veganism could be so pervasive and lead to plant-based alternatives in almost every industry seemed nothing short of a dream back then. Nevertheless, plant-based substitutes were devised and they soon became the need of the hour given climate change and global warming. Even so, people laughed off the idea of the footwear industry going Vegan as it was deemed an impossible and improbable feat.

Yet, the day has dawned where this is a reality with most of the leading footwear magnates around the globe competing to design the latest in vegan footwear. After all, clamouring users soon demanded vegan footwear as they opted to go plant-based with compassionate feet. And now, it is PUMA who is the latest in the league of shoe companies presenting vegan substitutes.

Vegan footwear by PUMA

The brand has launched a brand new PUMA KING model of football boots. The most intriguing part is that this is crafted solely from cruelty-free and animal-free materials. You would be delighted to behold the King Plantinum 21 Vegan. Although the new boot stays true to its signature style, it does have a variety of improvements when it comes to the feel and comfort of the sole. The King model has apparently included a new spin on the football icon, affirm brand representatives.

The company is being lauded for its climate-friendly move because the use of vegan leather is substantially better for animals as well as the environment as a whole.

Also, there is the fact that it also helps cut down on emissions, for vegan leather generates far fewer carbon dioxide emissions than genuine leather. Furthermore, vegan leather production needs little to none of the theoretically toxic chemicals. The manufacturing process with vegan leather also demands much less water, which ensures it is a sustainable choice.

Discover how this shoe was conceptualized

The moment this notion was conceptualized a couple of years ago, the process began and has been a tough one. If you’re wondering what the biggest challenge was for the major shoe brand, then you should know that Florian Nemetz, the director of the Teamsport Footwear product line confirmed that they struggled to source wholly vegan products. Now that the shoe has been launched, the brand attests that their efforts were well worth it because the response from both their suppliers as well as their customers has been very good.

vegan leather crafted for superior comfort

If you have been apprehensive about whether or not vegan leather can offer the KING Plantinum 21 Vegan superior comfort; then worry no more. This design was conceptualized purely for players who seek animal-free products. But the shoe uses KINGForm technology to enhance user comfort. It essentially is a structure that joins with vegan leather upper in specific areas of friction and contact to afford greater comfort and a better feel. Highly responsive, this shoe is recommended for professional players.

Moreover, it has a PEBA outsole that you would be delighted to know is also crafted free from animal-based adhesives. The cherry on the top is that all of the exciting and unique prints on the boot are made of solely vegan pigments.

More vegan footwear options by PUMA are on the horizon

The best part about PUMA’s insistence on premium quality soles and shoes is that these football shoes are able to weather great wear and tear. They do not easily wear out and can be a lasting investment in the comfort of your feet.

Florian Nemetz went on to assure audiences at the Puma Catch-up interview that the brand “will continue to use vegan materials in future products, as our aim is to offer an alternative to traditional leather products. The boot retains all the key benefits and performance properties of the KING, but uses a new special vegan material in the upper, which provides the fantastic feel, comfort and class properties synonymous with the PUMA KING”.

It is clear now more than ever that going plant-based isn’t merely a dietary choice. Veganism is far more than a diet. In fact, it is an ethical stand that encompasses every element of living an empathetic life right from your crown to your feet with the shampoos you use and the footwear you choose
