We’ve got some happy news to share just in time for the festive season – the latest edition of Vegan First print magazine is ready to hit the stands! It feels surreal to finally hold the magazine in our hands, and, the journey has been a memorable one.

A few months ago, Vegan First and VegPlanet magazine entered into a joint venture to form our shared vision of a united vegan voice in India. With the JV, VegPlanet has been renamed 'Vegan First Magazine' in India, and, together we’ve combined resources to launch Asia's largest vegan magazine and promote veganism in the world’s most biggest vegetarian market. This is the 6th edition of the magazine - and the first one as a Vegan First-VegPlanet publication.

Vegan First reaches thousands of readers in India and abroad every day through our website and social media platforms.

VegPlanet started out as India’s first 100% veg magazine and grew into a global publication with a strong readership in the US and Canada, retailing at Whole Foods and Barnes & Noble outlets across North America.

HOW VEGAN FIRST & VEGPLANET CAME TOGETHER

Niranjan and Zac, the co-founders of VegPlanet met the Vegan First team last year – and the connection was instant. Their dedication, positivity, clarity and direction for growing a vegan magazine in India really struck a chord with us.

"VegPlanet's intentions have always been to be a community-based magazine not just for the community in our backyard, but also the common community around the world."

Niranjan Amarnath, CFO & Editor, VegPlanet

In a short span, Vegan First and VegPlanet grew independently, reaching out to thousands of people across the country both online and in print and we became media partners for some of India’s biggest vegan events to date.

While we started out vying for the attention of the same audience, we knew that a marriage of print + digital would be the best way to create something bigger and better, together.

The Indian vegan market has grown exponentially over the last two years and is poised to expand further.

There is a dearth of information on Indian veganism and not enough platforms for the community  (this includes the vegan-curious, transitioning vegans and vegans), to learn, interact and discover new products and services. Vegan First Magazine is here to see the movement smoothly transition for the masses – and bridge the gap between brands, service providers, practitioners and consumers.

Cover star Monica Dogra

Our efforts have culminated in a fun issue which we hope you will enjoy.

Our cover girl, musician Monica Dogra, talks about her vegan journey. We also have a  feature on vegan barbecue and seitan, as well as vegan travel guides to Dorset, Penang and Chennai - just in time for the holiday season. And of course, you will find our usual focus on accessible recipes, activists and events.
