700+ Doctors Hold Vegan Demonstration In Front Of The White House

If you want the world to go vegan… make yourself heard!

That’s exactly what hundreds of doctors in the United States did on Friday in front of the White House.

The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a non-profit of plant-based medical professionals led by Dr Neal Barnard, gathered in Washington, DC holding banners with the slogans “Go Vegan!” and “Break The Meat Habit.”

Barnard’s message was plain and simple: stop consuming meat.

Eating meat increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes, certain types of cancer and kidney failure.

Doctors were in the US capital for the 6th annual International Conference On Nutrition In Medicine (ICNM), an event conducted by the George Washington School Of Medicine in partnership with PCRM.

ICNM is a 2-day event with talks, panel discussions and networking opportunities. The focus is on nutrition with the aim to share knowledge about plant-based and preventive medical care. The conference attracts thousands of medical professionals and medical students.

Students gathered on the grounds outside the White House holding up placards with letters that spelt out “THE FUTURE,” highlighting their belief that a plant-based diet is the key to a healthier and more sustainable future.

PCRM is known to be very vocal about plant-based change and lobbies for it globally. The non-profit was in India over the last month, visiting medical schools across the country and educating students about the importance of plant-based nutrition.
