Just In: IGNOU Introduces PG Diploma Course in Indian Animal Welfare

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a PG Diploma in Animal Welfare for those who are passionate about the country's animal welfare. The one-year-long course will focus on various aspects of animal welfare in India like animal welfare science and ethics, issues, animal welfare laws, policies, welfare organisations, welfare practices, economics and livelihood. The PGDAW (PG Diploma in Animal Welfare) course will mainly focus on welfare of animals like cattle and buffaloes, sheep and goats, pigs, poultry, working and performing animals, pets and animals used in laboratories.

The distant learning course will be offered through 22 'Learner Support Centres' spread across the country. However, if applicants do not find a learner support centre in their vicinity or state, they may choose an SOEDS (School of Extension and Development Studies) as the Learner Support Centre/Study Centre.

The eligibilty criteria for applicants interested in studying the course is graduation in any discipline.

The course's fee is Rs 5,400 and a registration fee of Rs 200.
