UK Becomes The First Country to Declare Climate Change Emergency
UK is now the first country to declare an environment and "climate emergency" after the opposition Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn came through to the lawmakers at UK Parliament with a proposal which demonstrates the will of the Commons on the issue but does not legally compel the government to act.

This can set off a wave of action from parliaments and governments around the globe. The motion proceeded after 16-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg addressed the lawmakers to demand more climate action in the wake of protests by activist group Extinction Rebellion, who blocked major spots in London.
Labour's motion also calls on the government to aim to achieve net-zero emissions before 2050 and for ministers to outline urgent proposals to restore the UK's natural environment and deliver a "zero waste economy" within the next six months.
The Welsh and Scottish governments have both already declared a climate emergency, along with dozens of towns and cities, including Manchester and London.
The best time to declare a climate emergency was 30 years ago; the second best time is now.
