Vans Steps Into Vegan Fashion, Debuts Sustainable Footwear Range Called ‘Eco Theory’

After major fast fashion giants such as H&M, Nike, Adidas and Reebok, the footwear brand Vans has also stepped into environmentally-conscious fashion. Vans has launched a new collection of vegan and sustainable versions of its classic designs.
The collection includes four designs including the Authentic, the Slip-Ons, the Style 36 Decon, and the SK8-Hi 38 high tops. While the shoes will consist of eco-friendly materials, Vans promises to maintain the style and quality it is famous for.
The brand explained: “Being earth-conscious means more than just utilizing responsibly sourced materials. It means taking a holistic approach to health and sustainability. These key values are the guiding principles in crafting this collection, with the goal being to make a more thoughtful product from the ground up.”
The shoes from the Eco Theory range have rubber soles with its uppers made with organic cotton. The footbed is made with cork, the laces are hemp-based and all the shoes use water-based ink and colours.
“Sustainability has to be at the forefront of Vans for the future. It’s a fantastic moment to own the space and contribute to a more sustainable way of producing,” commented Vans Professional Surfer Dane Gudauskas, who is also representing the Eco Theory collection.
The brand has hinted towards more sustainable launches in the future. The Eco Theory collection is available in several countries including the U.S.
