The documentary ‘Voice of the Glaciers’ is an award-winning documentary that is an eye-opener for all those who deny the adverse effects of climate change. The documentary records a three-week expedition across the Arctic island. Documented in the summer of 2019, the film shows how four young adventurers set out to take a dangerous journey to show the world the true story of our ice caps.

THE FIRST GENERATION TO FEEL THE STING OF CLIMATE CHANGE

The crew approaches the attempt with open minds, seeking evidence to separate fact from frenzy over the rate of glacier melting, thanks to Eric's scientific degree in glaciology and Kris' critical understanding of traversing the local terrain as an Arctic guide. The voyage proves to be an eye-opening experience, instilling in individuals a sense of urgency that something must be done before it is too late. The documentary gathers undeniable evidence of before and after pictures of the glaciers to show the original perspective of climate change and how they are disappearing at an alarming rate.

"We're the first generation to feel the devastating effects of climate change. Some people don't believe climate change is real because they don't see it, but here's the evidence," said Voice of the Glaciers award-winning filmmaker and professional adventurer Sindre Kolbjørnsgard.

TIME IS TICKING AND WE'RE PROBABLY THE LAST TO BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

The four-member crew traveled to the exact same site where the photographs were taken in the early 1800s and 1900s to demonstrate real-time verification. While many of them have undergone significant changes, some have totally vanished. People who would have visited the arctic in the early years would have thought this is how the lands would have looked in the Ice Age and would have thought it would stay like this forever. But, it’s disturbing to know that Scandinavia was one of the first places to have the worst affected by climate change. Temperatures have been increasing in this place steadily by five degrees since 1961.

"I hope Voice of the Glaciers makes you realize that no matter where you live, your actions influence climate change and can destroy places thousands of miles away like Svalbard. It's up to all of us to take action now and stop climate change before it's too late," said Kolbjørnsgard.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL AND IT'S COMING FOR ALL OF US

Climate change's impact can be observed in real-time. The warming of the earth's surface causes everything from wildfires to hurricanes to flooding. The startling fact is both frightening and heartbreaking. The severity of the issue may be difficult for people to comprehend, but the truth of climate change cannot be changed. We live in a society where people don't seem to believe in anything, even when it's right in front of their eyes.
